Historical Background:
Shikoku Gakuin University was founded on Christian principles, in 1949, for educational purposes, in furtherance of which a masterfs program in sociology was established in 2000.
Goals:
Graduate School of Sociology aims to conduct research and to provide both theoretical and practical instruction in the field of Sociology. Its academic staff strive to attain the highest levels of understanding and expertise in the discipline, and to contribute to the further development of positivistic research.

Organization and Degree:
The Masterfs Degree is basically a 2-year course, but can take up to a maximum of 4 years. Successful completion of the course requires writing a masterfs thesis, in addition to seminar and lecture attendance, participation and passing of the pertinent examinations. Candidates qualify with a Master of Sociology, after the requisite completion of the course.
Qualification:
Applicants must already have completed 16 years of schooling recognized as standard in their own countries.

- Written application for admission and personal history (to be filled on the prescribed form)
- Certified true copy of diploma from the last institution from which the applicant graduated.

- A draft of the research proposal
- Payment of the Entrance Examination Fee: 30,000 Japanese yen
- A photograph (height 3.5 cm x width 3 cm, taken within 3 months.)
- A letter of identification about Japanese language competence at Grade 2 or over, certified by the Japanese Government.
